If you are an OEM looking for 48V alternator (48V generators), then you have landed at the right place. You can jump directly to our offering pages,
48V Flywheel alternators or 48V Belt Generator.
Problem 1: Low efficiency for most 48V alternators
Most 48V alternators that are readily available, have low efficiency through either the design of the alternator (below 80%) or the conversion to DC voltage (through brushes or rectified with power regulation). This conversion to DC can be below 50% depending on the application. From an energy efficiency perspective, this is horrible.
Problem 2: Low power ratings for 48V alternators
Increasing power demands have caused a switch to higher voltages for battery packs. What was once a 12V market has moved to 48V, with a growing need for more power. The problem with most available 48V alternators is that they are rated for low power output (less than 100A) or for short duration cycles. The short duration means that they are not for large power demands.

Innotec’s Efficiency Measures: Over 90%
Innotec Power uses its own proprietary brushless 48V DC Alternator designs coupled with external regulators to provide maximum power and efficiency for 48V applications. There is no comparison between field regulated alternators and Innotec’s PM 48V alternators. Innotec’s units use an external regulator to manage and maintain charging voltage across a wide range of rpms.
Field regulated alternator manufacturers rarely mention their efficiency whereas Innotec’s units boast over a 90% and the regulators over a 90% efficiency mark.
Innotec’s expertise is in peak efficient permanent magnet alternators for DC charging applications. First, this involves maximizing the efficiency of the design of the permanent magnet alternators.
According to NACFE:
There are two efficiency ranges of alternators available on the market. Standard alternators typically range from 55 to 60 percent in maximum efficiency, whereas high-efficiency ones often fall between 68 and 75 percent. The use of wires that permit a greater fill of the alternator’s windings is primarily responsible for these efficiency benefits.
In most applications including trucking, the on-board power is increasing. Meaning the inefficiencies of these alternators have a growing impact on fuel demand.
In marine and trucking applications, this can be a huge difference in fuel economy of a total system.
Innotec’s 48 Volt alternator
Innotec Power manufactures the widest selection of 48V alternators – 48V generators in the world.
From the engine mounted units/flywheel units, going up 700 AMPs to the belt driven 48V alternators. OEMs use Innotec’s 48V alternators in a wide variety of applications. These include marine equipment, trucking and all charging and hybrid applications.
More equipment is being built for 48V – this includes air conditioning units, lights, electronic controls, motors, marine electric motors (outboard/inboard motors). The higher power requirements means OEMs are switching from traditional 12V systems to larger voltage which are able to handle more power demands.
