Marine DC Generator — Permanent Magnet DC Power for Workboats, Vessels, and Marine OEMs
Marine electrical systems have a fundamental requirement that sets them apart from land-based power: nothing fails at sea without consequences. A generator that needs brush replacement, slip ring cleaning, or exciter service creates a maintenance burden that marine operators cannot easily manage underway or at remote anchorages.
Innotec Power’s brushless permanent magnet DC generators eliminate these failure modes entirely. No brushes, no slip rings, no exciters — no wear components in the alternator. Our marine DC generators are used on workboats, patrol vessels, fishing boats, and hybrid commercial craft for house bank charging, thruster battery supply, and hybrid propulsion support.
Marine Applications
House Bank Charging (24V and 48V)
Engine-mounted or shaft-driven generator charges the vessel’s DC house battery bank during engine running. Our marine generator heads produce significantly more charging current at low engine RPM than conventional alternators — important for vessels that motor slowly in and out of harbour but need fast battery recovery.
Bow and Stern Thruster Battery Banks (24V or 48V)
Thrusters draw large short-duration currents that benefit from a dedicated high-capacity battery bank. Our DC generator heads charge thruster banks efficiently during transit, ensuring full thruster capacity on arrival.
Hybrid Propulsion (48V and 96V)
Hybrid vessels use our engine-mounted generator heads for battery charging during diesel operation. The generator charges the traction battery bank that powers electric drives for silent or low-emission manoeuvring.
APU for Vessels at Berth
Vessels that need to power hotel loads at berth without shore power use compact DC generator sets to charge the house bank independently.
