Two Configurations. One Platform.

Both PTO/belt-driven and engine-mounted variants share the same brushless PM architecture and external regulation platform.

48V PTO Alternator (Belt/Pulley-Driven)

Mounts via pulley and belt to an existing engine drive system. Available from 2 kW to 60 kW. A 30 kW unit measures under 12 inches in length — roughly half the size of a conventional PTO alternator.

48V Engine Mounted Alternator

Attaches directly to the engine flywheel or bell housing — eliminating belt losses. Available 5 kW to 60 kW, tuned for 800–3,000 RPM. SAE bell housing compliant for direct engine integration.

Technical Specifications

Innotec’s 48V alternator range covers outputs from 50 amps to 700 amps, power levels from 5 kW to 60 kW, and RPM operating ranges of 800–3,000 RPM for engine-mounted units. Belt-driven PTO units are available from 2 kW to 60 kW. All units are rated for continuous duty operation up to 65°C.

Output Range50A – 700AContinuous DC output at 48V nominal. Covers low-load auxiliary systems through high-demand hybrid drive applications.
Power Range5 kW – 60 kWEngine-mounted and PTO/belt-driven configurations. Both rated for continuous duty, not short-cycle operation.
RPM Range800 – 3,000 RPMEngine-mounted units. External voltage regulator maintains stable 48V DC output across the full operating range.
Operating TemperatureUp to 65°CContinuous duty rated. Brushless PM design generates significantly less heat than wound-field alternatives.

How a Permanent Magnet 48V Alternator Works

Unlike wound-field alternators that require a powered field winding and brushes, a PM alternator uses permanent magnets in the rotor — eliminating brush-to-slip-ring contact entirely. This is what enables the brushless operation and 90%+ efficiency Innotec machines achieve.

1
PM Rotor SpinsPermanent magnets create a constant magnetic field. No field current or brush contact required.
2
AC GeneratedStator windings cut through the magnetic field, generating three-phase AC. High copper fill maximises efficiency.
3
Rectified to DCSolid-state rectifier converts three-phase AC to DC. No mechanical contacts — maintenance-free.
4
External RegulatorMaintains stable 48V DC across 800–3,000 RPM. Programmable for Li, AGM, and custom chemistries.

Why Permanent Magnet Technology Outperforms

Most 48V alternators use wound-field technology with well-documented efficiency limits.

"Standard alternators typically range from 55 to 60 percent in maximum efficiency, whereas high-efficiency ones often fall between 68 and 75 percent." — NACFE, North American Council for Freight Efficiency

Innotec’s brushless PM 48V alternators exceed 90% efficiency at the alternator stage — and the external regulator exceeds 90% independently. In continuous-duty operation that gap directly impacts fuel consumption and heat load.

Built for Industrial OEM — Not the Automotive Aftermarket

Mechman, Balmar, and ARCO Marine serve the vehicle aftermarket and marine hobbyist market. Innotec is in the industrial OEM category — different product, different buyer, different performance class.

  • 50A to 700A continuous — most aftermarket units top out below 200A
  • More compact than Baldor wound-field — higher output density per kg and cm³
  • Brushless, IP65 rated — sealed against dust and water jets; rated to 65°C continuous
  • CE & ISO 9001 certified — meets European safety directives and quality management standards
  • Multi-voltage platform — same PM machine covers 24V, 48V, 72V, 96V, 240V, 400V
  • OEM volume production — more PM-based 48V alternators than any other supplier

Frequently Asked Questions

Both terms describe the same machine — a device converting mechanical rotation into 48V DC electrical output. ‘Alternator’ is the technically precise term: the machine produces AC internally and rectifies it to DC. Innotec’s machines are brushless PM alternators producing regulated 48V DC.
50 amps to 700 amps at 48V — 5 kW to 60 kW continuous output. This significantly exceeds most commercially available 48V alternators, which typically peak below 200 amps.
Yes. All units are rated for continuous duty up to 65°C — not short-cycle automotive applications. The brushless PM design and thermal engineering are optimized for sustained industrial operation.
CE marking, IP65 environmental protection, SAE bell housing compliance for direct engine integration, and ISO 9001 quality management certification.
Wound-field industrial alternators achieve 65–75% efficiency and require brush maintenance. Innotec’s brushless PM design achieves 90%+ efficiency with a smaller envelope, IP65 sealing, and higher output density per kg.
Yes. The same PM platform is available in 24V, 96V, 240V, and 400V configurations.
