Skid-mounted Innotec Power gas DC generator set with variable-speed controller and permanent magnet alternator

Innotec Power builds gas DC generator sets to order. There is no standard catalogue model — the engine, alternator winding, bus voltage and package are specified against the application, then built and tested as a one-off or a production run.

The electrical side is the same architecture as the diesel DCGO range: a brushless, bearing-less permanent magnet alternator feeding a passive rectifier, with engine speed varied to regulate DC output voltage. Peak efficiency is engineered above 93%, and there is no inverter stage between the machine and the battery.

Why gas rather than diesel

  • Lower emissions at the point of use, which matters where the set runs indoors, in enclosed yards or under local air-quality rules
  • Access to natural gas, LPG or biogas where a fuel supply already exists on site
  • Quieter combustion than a comparable diesel
  • Lower fuel cost per kWh where piped gas is available

Diesel still wins on energy density and cold starting, so a gas set is usually the right answer for a fixed installation rather than a mobile one.

What we need to quote

A gas set is specified from the load, not from a model number. To size one accurately:

  • DC bus voltage — 24 V, 48 V, 72 V, 96 V or higher
  • Continuous power and peak demand, and how long the peak lasts
  • Duty cycle — continuous, cyclic, or standby
  • Fuel available — natural gas, LPG or biogas, and supply pressure
  • Battery bank being charged, if any — chemistry, capacity and charge profile
  • Environment — ambient range, altitude, enclosure and noise limits

Control panel and protection

Every DCGO genset ships with a variable-speed DC genset controller running a precision PID loop, which matches the charging characteristic rather than simply holding a fixed voltage. Protection covers overvoltage, overcurrent, overspeed, overheat, thermal and short circuit.

  • ECU connection through J1939 CAN (option)
  • Isolated volt–amp measurement
  • 100 event logs with time stamp and measurements
  • Field-adjustable parameters
  • MODBUS communications
  • GSM SMS message on fault

The diesel range, for comparison

If a diesel set suits the installation, three standard models are published with full specifications: the 5 kW, the 14 kW in 24 V and 48 V, and the 25 kW 48 V. The DC generator range also covers generator heads and PTO-driven units if you already have a prime mover.
